Handwash FAQs

Carex is available from the majority of UK grocery and discount retailers, as well as from online retailers. If you are looking for a specific product please check the individual product page.

There is no single antibacterial “active” ingredient. Carex Handwash uses a carefully developed blend of ingredients that provides effective antibacterial performance while cleansing and caring for skin.

Carex Handwashes are cosmetic products designed to cleanse and promote good hygiene. Our antibacterial products are thoroughly tested using methods based on UK Government (BS:EN) standards to support the claim that they kill 99.9% of bacteria. Testing is conducted against specific bacteria as defined by these standards.

Yes. Cosmetic products are subject to strict regulations to ensure consumer safety. Carex fully complies with these regulations. Full ingredient lists are available on product packaging and on our website.

Yes. Carex Handwash complies with all cosmetic safety regulations. If you have any concerns, we recommend seeking advice from a healthcare professional.

Yes. Carex Handwashes do not contain animal-derived ingredients and are suitable for vegans.

Carex Handwash is formulated to a slightly acidic pH, similar to that of skin, to deliver effective antibacterial performance. While we test our products on common surfaces, prolonged contact with the neat (undiluted) formulation may cause discolouration on some materials. Carex Handwash can also react with non-passivated stainless steel, so we do not recommend using dispensers made from this material.

Yes. The glycerine used in Carex Handwash is vegetable derived. Our suppliers use a variety of feedstocks.

Carex Handwashes do not intentionally contain dairy ingredients. However, due to manufacturing processes, we cannot guarantee that products are completely dairy free.

Some of Advanced Care variants contain nuts and nut-derived ingredients:

  • Macadamia Oil
  • Coconut Oil
  • Shea Butter

Due to manufacturing processes, we cannot guarantee that other Carex Handwash products are completely nut free.

Carex Handwashes do not contain gluten. However, we cannot guarantee the absence of cross-contamination from other sources.

Carex Handwashes do not intentionally contain soya. However, some ingredients may be derived from soya. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend Carex products for those with soya allergies.

Hand Gel FAQs

Hand sanitiser should be used when you do not have access to soap and running water.

A blob roughly the size of a 5p coin is sufficient to cover palms, fingers, backs of hands, between fingers and around nails.

Rub the gel into your hands until completely dry. Carex Hand Gel features a quick-dry formula.

Yes. Carex Hand Gels do not contain animal-derived ingredients and are suitable for vegans.

Wipes FAQs

Carex Wipes are cosmetic products designed to cleanse and refresh hands, face and body. They are not intended for cleaning cutlery or hard household surfaces.

Hand & Surface Spray FAQs

Spray directly onto the surface until fully wetted. Leave the surface to air dry to ensure it is sanitised.

No. Carex Hand & Surface Spray contains 70% ethanol, which is flammable. Do not use on mobile phones or any powered electrical devices due to the risk of ignition.

Do not use on:

  • Copper or brass
  • Painted, lacquered or varnished surfaces
  • Acrylic plastics
  • Leather
  • Powered electrical devices
